Helen Spiers PhD, MEd (Dist.Ed), BA, Grad Dip Ed, BEd, Cert IV TAA, Grad Cert Mgmt Dev

Dr Helen Spiers came to Kormilda College in July 2007 and brought with her more than 20 years experience as an educator in the Northern Territory.
Helen Spiers spent 17 years managing VET programs across the Jabiru-Western Arnhemland region. During this time, Helen completed a Masters degree in Distance Education, a Graduate Certificate in Management Development (Education and Training) and the Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training and remains active in professional associations for VET trainers and Mathematics teachers. 

Helen has completed her Doctorate with research entitled ‘Indigenous participation in tertiary education: elements of the institutional learning environment critical for course completion’ and is currently an active researcher with the School of Education at both the Charles Darwin University and the Southern Cross University.  

Helen and her husband Andrew live on a conservation block of 97 hectares in the rural area of Darwin in a tropical house powered 100% by solar energy.
