A World of Opportunity

NAPLAN Results 2016

Kormilda College participated in the National Assessment Plan - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 in May 2016. I am pleased to announce that, on average, 98.33% of our mainstream students performed AT or ABOVE the National Minimum Standard. As many parents are aware, the Myschool website displays information regarding school's NAPLAN results. Kormilda students again produced very strong NAPLAN results across both Years 7 & 9 and excellent results in our second year of a Primary School at Kormilda College.

A significant number of Kormilda students (32%) are remote area Indigenous students of variable literacy and numeracy levels. Kormilda is committed to 'closing the gap' for these students and operates specialised support classes for them. In 2016 Kormilda College had 190 students complete the NAPLAN assessments. 26% of Year 7 and 36% of Year 9 students identified as Aboriginal or Torres Strait islander students. Only two mainstream students were withdrawn from sitting the tests by their parents.
