A World of Opportunity

Kormilda College Historic Photographic Exhibition 1967 - 2017

In August 1967 Graham Benjamin was appointed as the Principal of a school with no staff or students, no name, no logo, no motto, and no uniform. In his optimistic energetic way, he set about making the ramshackle ex-army hospital/old Qantas buildings into a school providing the first opportunity for Aboriginal young people from remote communities across the Northern Territory to have access to post primary education.

Kormilda College has an interesting past, with the Berrimah site providing education to remote and urban young people for the past fifty years. Current and previous Staff of Kormilda College have put together a photographic exhibition for you to view the changes over the years and to see what a wonderful contribution this College has made to the development of the Northern Territory.

With the transition of Kormilda College to Haileybury Rendall school in 2018, it is most important that you have the opportunity to reflect on the past and appreciate the significance of this event.
