A World of Opportunity

Find your way!

It can often be hard to find our way, both figuratively and literally, which is why the Year 9 OE class have been doing a small unit on Orienteering. The students have the opportunity to work on hard skills such as finding six-figure grid references, taking and walking along a compass bearing, and measuring paces. As far as soft skills go, Orienteering focuses on dealing with uncertainties: what do you do when you are not 100% sure where you are? Or what to do in certain situations? Learning to rely on those around you and practising the ability to ignore the doubts within are all lessons that transcend the subject matter and make us stronger people.
