Creative work with timber

Kormilda College Woodwork

Years 9 and 10 woodwork students have been inspired and busy this semester with research, design and construction of their major project. The Year 9s undertook chopping boards and the Year 10s created various types of tables.

There were a number of very creative chopping boards that included Asara Weerasakara’s split level board that featured an under drawer, Amol Mathew’s multi timbered design and Hamish McCoy’s guitar inspired chopping board made entirely of Muranti.

An outstanding variety of tables were presented, including Connor Rudd’s ‘slab’ inspired coffee table with an African mahogany top and boxed leg design in French provincial finished Radiata, whilst Blake Van Heythuysen’s solid stained table was mainly constructed from re-cycled pallet pine and Arhtur Murfitt’s table featured a re-furbished steel frame understory with a pallet Pine top.
