A World of Opportunity

School Captains' Report: September 2017

Well it’s that time of year again, where we are finishing off assessments, and preparing ourselves for the mid-semester break!

This Term has been full of exciting events, such as the Year 10 camp to Lake Argyle and the Year 12 Outdoor Education camp to Kakadu National Park, which we are sure were both fun and exciting experiences for all the students.

This Term, we also celebrated Book Week, during which the Primary School students dressed up as their favourite book characters to celebrate literacy. We would like to congratulate all the students and teachers who showed initiative and effort in to their spectacular costumes!

The Year 12s have started their dancing lessons for the Valedictory dinner, and which has certainly been an interesting experience.

The Free Dress day we had on Friday of Week 7 raised funds for Guide Dogs SA/NT and we would especially like to thank those particular Year 8 students who put so much time and effort into making that happen.

We are looking forward to the last day of Term on Friday, as Kormilda will be holding a Footy Colours Day, dressing up in support of our favourite teams to raise funds for the Fight Cancer Foundation.

In this particular newsletter, we would like to discuss something that isn’t exactly Kormilda related. However, it most certainly applies to many of the students here. We would like to invite you all down this Friday, to the Pride March in Civic square, and afterwards from 5pm for the Darwin Pride Festival “Diverse City Fair Day”, to show your support of the LGBTQ+ community. It will be family friendly with food and drink available and lots of fun events and activities. We hope to see you all down there!
