In March 2006, Kormilda College was officially awarded full CIS Accreditation by Mr Richard Tangye, Executive Director of the Council of International Schools.
With this accreditation we joined a select group of schools worldwide which have been granted accredited status with the CIS.
During the 12-month qualifying process, we undertook a comprehensive self-study of curriculum and operations that was documented and externally evaluated by a visiting team of esteemed international educators. They analysed both the study and the College in action over one week.
The team was led by Mr Gail Schoppert, who was formerly the Head of the American School of the Hague and more recently leader of the Governance and Management Training Unit of the European Council of International Schools and Head of School in Rotterdam.
After the visit, a series of recommendations was handed down, and implementation of those recommendations occurred over the next 10 years.
In 2015 Kormilda College again undertook the year-long process to retain the CIS accreditation as an international school. A strength of this process is the involvement of students, staff, parents and community members in the assessment of the curriculum and how it is being taught and assessed, college-wide operations, current policies and procedures. The Visiting Team from the Council of International Schools visited the school for a week in October 2015. Their report was provided by January 2016 and the Chairman of the College Board was pleased to announce that the college retained it's status as an international school with an excellent report.
International Accreditation provides independent recognition that Kormilda College conforms to international performance benchmarks.
